Can a 3 hour long distance relationship work out?

me and my boyfriend are going to be going to college soon and our colleges are 3 hours away. we're both really commited to stay together and we are very faithful towards eachother and don't want to find anyone else. i just want to know if it's possible to last through a long distance relationship like that, esp if its only 3 hours away. my friend is going to be 15 hours from her boyfriend. i just need some advice! thank you
