Is it so wrong if I want my girlfriend to propose to me? ?

So iv been in a commited relationship for the better part of a decade and I know my girlfriend wants to get married and so do I but il only get married if I'm asked and she knows this. I dont see why I should get down on one knee and I hate following trends. If she loved me shed ask. But when I tell me people they make it out as if I'm some kind of evil man for putting her in that position. What do you think?
